Sensex, Nifty trade in green; Nifty PSU Bank at record high

BSE Sensex was trading 161 points or 0.50 per cent up at 32,470.88 with shares of index heavy-weights such as ICICI BankBSE -1.99 %, Larsen & Toubro and SBI contributing over 140 points to the gains at around 12.50 pm.

Meanwhile, Nifty50 continued trading above 10,000 at 10,056.90, up 39 points or 0.39 per cent.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty PSU Bank index gained nearly 3 per cent to touch its record high level at 3,734.15 backed by solid performance in stocks such as State Bank of India (up 3.66 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 3.31 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 1.76 per cent), Bank of India (up 1.20 per cent) and Union Bank of India (up 1.24 per cent).

Globally, ​China’s CSI300 index gained 0.5 per cent, to 3,740.85 points while the Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.6 per cent, to 3,272.24 points, its highest in three and half months.

11:30 am: Nifty PSU Bank rallies; over 39 stocks touch 52-week high
Domestic indices were trading in green at around 11.30 am on Monday with BSE Sensex up 125 points or 0.39 per cent at 32,434.87 while Nifty was trading 30 points or 0.30 per cent higher at 10,044.15.

Nifty PSU Bank led the rally by surging 2.10 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Pharma was down 1.52 per cent with shares of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (down 2.59 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 2.36 per cent) dragging the index.
