Markets recover from early loss to end on a flat note

BSE Sensex closed 0.04% or 11.83 points down to end at 31209.79 from 31221.62. Sectors that trailed in the negative were Power (down by 1.23%), Sugar (-0.71%), Shipping & Logistics, (-0.64%), Banking & Finance (-0.56%), and Auto (-0.47%). Retail (up by 1.72%), Telecom (0.83%) Infrastructure (0.55%), Cement (0.54%), FMCG (0.47%) rallied on the BSE. Reliance Industries (2.79%), HDFC (1.28%), Infosys (0.96%), ONGC (0.57%), and NTPC (0.80%) remained the market movers by market capitalization.

Most indices on the Nifty too ended in the red, with the notable exceptions of India Vix. Financial services (up by 0.03%), Nifty IT (0.23%), and Nifty Metal (0.13%) were the only that remained in the green. Stocks of Pharma (down by 1.02%), PSU Bank (0.95%), FMCG (0.86%), and Auto (0.48%) extended losses to the exchange. Stocks of Visesh Infotec (up by 50%), FCS Software (25%), Karuturi Global (19.05%), Venkys India (19.02%), and Liberty Shoes (15.93%) were the top stocks in trade.
